1. Matira Beach

One of the few public access beaches in Bora Bora, Matira Beach is extremely popular with visitors. With soft sands and crystal clear water, Matira Beach is nothing short of breathtaking. It also has a number of stores, shops and places to eat, so it’s a convenient place to spend the better part of a day.  If you don’t have time to spend a whole day there, the best time to go is during the lovely sunset.

2. Coral Gardens

The Coral Gardens are home to a gorgeous coral reef found on a small islet located just east of the main island. The reef isn’t far below the water, so all you need to bring are some snorkeling goggles. This way, you’ll be able to see a series of colorful fish just below the surface. The Coral Gardens are extremely popular, so expect to see quite a few snorkelers. Just remember that the beaches can get a little rocky since they are filled with coral rather than sand.

3. Mount Otemanu

Whether you want an adrenaline-pumping adventure or a stunning photo op, Mount Otemanu is the place to go. This breathtaking mountain is one of two extinct volcanoes at the center of the island. Many say a trip to Bora Bora is not complete without a visit to the top of Mount Otemanu, which rises 2,400 feet above the lagoon. Whether you get to the top of the mountain by hiking or on a 4×4 Jeep tour, the view from atop the mountain will truly leave you in awe.

Bora Bora is not the place you go to explore the city life, but Bora Bora’s main town of Vaitape is more than worth the visit. In this charming town, you’ll find a number of boutiques and places to eat along its central corridor. Also located in Vaitape is the Lagoonarium, where you can swim with marine life.
